Yes, I think it is close to Luling. You should visit this plantation. Very historical. Great tour guides. I don't remember when the guide says restoration started. This very well might be the same place you remember from the 1940s. Louisiana is a very special state - old buildings and houses tend to be preserved here. Fascinating fact : first Mardi Gras ball was held in 1750 in this state. You should make the effort to visit here. I didn't see any Texaco swimming pool near there but I wasn't looking out for that either. Hope this helps!
