Our hotel was in Beacon Hill so we wandered around the area many times at day and at night. Very clean and very pretty and some really interesting buildings. Good selection of shops and restaurants.Full review by tinylass

Nice walk and not far from Cheers and visitor center. Lots of construction. I found charlestown, however, more charming.Full review by gabriela s

Yes, you can get an Uber. There is a designated place at the airport where all ride shares must be picked up. You can easily walk to it—just ask and look for the signs. I think it was outside of baggage claim. I think our cost on Uber was around $25 but it varies with the time of day. If you use the Uber app and put in your destination it will tell you the cost. Just don’t click on “confirm or submit” until you want to order the ride. We were told to check rates on both Uber and Lyft as they can vary a few dollars for the same ride.

Agree with jrmaddog, do it as part of the freedom trail, or a general walk to somewhere else. If like there are some other small museums around there like a museum of African American history, or Vilna Shul that are worth visiting. These are remnants of groups that used to live in some concentration on Beacon Hill. (I think the The African American museum was also once a synagogue) Check hours as they're not always open. In Back Bay but not far away is also Gibson House.

Either start or finish at The Liberty Hotel on Charles Street (at the beginning of the Longfellow Bridge, where the Charles / MGH T station is). It is a luxury hotel set in a converted jail, where many of the features have been carefully preserved. The main feature being a soaring 90foot ceiling in the Atrium and the cell catwalks and wrought-iron work from its 1850's construction. It's 3 minutes' walk from the Charles River Esplanade, and 4 minutes from Beacon Hill's boutique shops and restaurants on Charles Street. If you have time, detour up to Acorn Street for a bit of cobble-stoned history.

I lived in Beacon Hill for three years! The best way to get there is to take the Red Line (going to Alewife) to Charles MGH 'T' stop. Go out of the station and walk onto Charles Street. Beacon Hill is on the left. It is an area with lots of picturesque streets leading uphill from Charles Street. You could get off the Red Line at Park Street 'T' and walk across Boston Common to Charles Street in which case all the picturesque streets would be on your right but it is quite easy to go the wrong way across the Common!!
