Beautiful gardens. Take the cable car (aka ropeway) up to the top for gorgeous views of Kobe and walk at least 1/2 way down to see the gardens. Beware the walk is steep. Beautiful way to spend a f… Full review by flo220

Full review by ElsaCL

We were in Kobe the first week of April.. We had one (partial) day of rain. Temps were mid 50's during the day and mid 40's at night. It was sunny but quite breezy on the day we visited Mount Rokko/Maya making the wind chill factor high. For our trip we brought light spring outerwear and wore layers. If you do a lot of walking you will stay warm, if you mostly use public transit or stay inside you will be very warm, the Japanese keep everything on the very warm side.

Well only be in Kobe for a day and unfortunately it will be a Sunday and we want to go to the Herb Garden and ride the Ropeway both ways. Earlier we will be going to Kobe Sannomiya Station on the Port Liner from the Diamond Princess. Friends used the City Loop Bus to get there then returned to their ship but after reading several reviews saying how difficult it can be to get a ride on this as it’s often full when it gets to your stop and doesn’t take on more passengers. With limited time my husband is e trembly nervous that this will happen to us. I’ve tried to research getting the Shin Kobe subway train out to the Ropeway but I become extremely confused. Also there are conflicting stories about how far yo need to walk. Walking is some way a challenge for me so a difficult ult walk is not really what I’d like. Can anyone assist please .. if we need to get the train to Shin Kobe and back can anyone outline an easy way to do so. Sorry about the length of this enquiry.

Hello, If you take the Port Liner to Sannomiya station, you will arrive on 2F and need to go down one floor to exit. If you exit at the central exit on the north side and go outside of the station, look for signs to the subway. Just outside there is an elevator that will take you down one level to the subway entrance. There are more subway entrances around that whole intersection but some only have steps. You will need to buy one ticket each. Shin Kobe is just one stop away on the subway line(about a 5 minute train ride). When you arrive at Shin Kobe, you will be underground. There should be signs but the entrance to the ropeway is at street level. I think you will need to take two escalators up to get to street level. If you keep going up, you will get to the bullet train part of the station and need to backtrack a little. Not a big deal, just more walking. The entrance to the ropeway is close to the Main Street right by Shin Kobe station. If you have a whole day in Kobe, you won’t have a problem getting here and enjoying the area before returning to the boat by reversing the process. Enjoy your day. Kobe is a beautiful city!
Q:
