New England Patriots legendary head coach Bill Belichick returned to sideline, but not at the NFL level. He opted to make the jump to college football and become the North Carolina Tar Heels' new head football coach.

“Multiple NFL teams have inquired about whether legendary coach Bill Belichick would reconsider his move to college football – including the Raiders, whose new minority owner Tom Brady spoke recently with his old coach, per league sources,” Tom Pelissero reported in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

While it looked like Bill Belichick made a preemptive move to pass on the 2025 HC carousel, teams are interested in seeing if he would hop back on for what would be a second straight year. Belichick took the North Carolina top job last month, but he is now being connected to NFL vacancies once again.

Ben Johnson is expected to be one of the top candidates for a head coaching job in 2025. Multiple teams, including the Patriots, have requested to interview him, but for now, he is forced to put all of that on the backburner to focus on the Lions’ postseason run.
