Bankrupt drugmaker Purdue Pharma filed a new bankruptcy plan on Tuesday, a major step toward finalizing a proposed opioid settlement of at least $7.4 billion after a setback in the U.S. Supreme Court last year.

Members of the Sackler family who own the OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma would hand over the company and up to $7 billion in cash in the latest plan to settle thousands of lawsuits over the toll of opioids.

Jefferson County Public Schools is using opioid settlement funds to expand its youth prevention services. Just last week, Metro Council voted on how to spend $2.9 million of the latest installment of opioid settlement money.
