Toyota has tried to stay away from fully electric vehicles, taking the hybrid path instead. However, the carmaker has now announced that it will be launching nine new fully-electric vehicles in Europe by 2026. These nine electric vehicles will be a mix of the Toyota brand itself and its luxury arm, Lexus.

At Toyota ’s annual product strategy event last week in Brussels, the Japanese automaker announced it will introduce six new battery electric vehicles in Europe by the end of next year, plus another three from its luxury brand Lexus .

Toyota said on Wednesday that it will launch a total of nine fully-electric models in Europe in 2025 and 2026 for its Toyota and premium Lexus brands to compete in a large EV market. The Japanese automaker said it will launch three Toyota brand electric SUVs this year - new versions of the bZ4X,

Toyota’s C-HR compact SUV is going electric. The swoopy battery-powered SUV was revealed in Europe, and initially looks to be for the continent only. Dubbed the C-HR+, Toyota said it would be launched in selected European countries this year before a wider rollout across the union next year.
