SoftBank’s Vision Fund division reported significant gains of 608.5 billion yen ($3.96 billion) in its fiscal second quarter, as the Japanese conglomerate experienced a sharp rise in returns on its tech investments following a shift to profitability in June.

Misra's exit marks the end of his formal role at SoftBank, although he will continue to be involved in the investment world through his own fund, One Investment Management.

Rajeev Misra is formally stepping down as co-chief executive officer of SoftBank Group Corp.’s Vision Fund, bringing to a close a tumultuous tenure at the helm of what had been the largest-ever venture capital fund.

SoftBank’s Misra was instrumental in helping founder Masayoshi Son set up the Vision Fund in 2017, helping him raise nearly $100 billion from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Apple Inc. and other backers.

Misra stepped back from a central role in Vision Fund 2 two years ago but continued overseeing the original portfolio. Recently, he's focused on his independent venture, One Investment Management, att
