After the Federal Reserve announced its latest interest-rate decision, financial markets sold off as the pace of future rate cuts appears that it will be slower than most had expected. During the sell-off, Warren Buffett-led Berkshire Hathaway bought shares of three stocks:

The purchases were made Tuesday through Thursday. The Occidental Petroleum buy was the first since June, suggesting Berkshire CEO Warren Buffett now finds the stock attractive.

Warren Buffett once wrote, "The weeds wither away in significance as the flowers bloom." Using Buffett's analogy, his Berkshire Hathaway garden had lots of blooming flowers in 2024. Buffett's timing was almost perfect in buying Jefferies.
