Recent FDA tests of 95 acne products containing benzoyl peroxide detected possible contamination with benzene, a cancer-causing chemical.

Makeup company L’Oréal S.A. has issued a recall on its popular acne cream Effaclar Duo due to concern that benzene, a known carcinogen, is in the product. Last year, independent Connecticut testing lab Valisure, flagged acne products with benzoyl peroxide, like L’Oréal’s, could contain benzene, reports the New York Post.
