The Cincinnati Reds on Thursday agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with catcher Jose Trevino, according to Jon Heyman of The New York Post. The extension is worth nearly $15 million and includes a club option for the 2028 season.
Reds fans were as perplexed as manager Terry Francona and pitching coach Derek Johnson on the best option for closer when asked Saturday.
Trevino earned an All-Star nod and Gold Glove in his first Yankees campaign. He also became the second catcher, joining St. Louis Cardinal legend Yadier Molina, to win the Platinum Glove Award.
