The Trump administration has not publicly said how many immigration detention beds it needs to achieve its goals, or what the cost will be.

An immigration group sued on Wednesday to block President Donald Trump's move to expand fast-track deportations under his pledge to remove millions of people who are in the country illegally. People facing fast-track deportations do not have access to an attorney and are unable to present evidence against their removal from the U.

An estimated 11.7 million people are living in the U.S. illegally, and ICE currently has the budget to detain only about 41,000.
