The Memphis Police Department is investigating after a man in a wheelchair was hit and killed on Madison Avenue.According to MPD, around 3:38 p.m., officers responded to a pedestrian-struck call on Madison Avenue near Idlewild Street.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman in a wheelchair is dead after being hit by a car on Tuesday, March 25. Officers responded to the incident around 3:30 p.m. at Madison Ave. and Idlewild St., where a wheelchair-bound pedestrian was hit by a car. The woman was taken to Regional One Health, where she died.

A woman has confirmed the identity of the man who was killed crossing Madison Avenue early Tuesday evening. The woman tells Action News 5 the victim was her 54-year-old son William “Bill” Alexander. Alexander died at the hospital Tuesday night after a driver struck him as he was crossing the road in his electric wheelchair.
