Eight years ago, Republican nominee Donald Trump carried Michigan by the slimmest of margins, two-tenths of a percentage point, riding a wave of populist anger and general indifference toward the major party candidates on his way to the White House.
Down-ballot, ABC News reports Democrat Rep. Elissa Slotkin is the projected winner a winner in the Michigan Senate race, narrowly fending off a challenge from Republican former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers. That means the Democrats will hold the seat, which is being vacated by retiring U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
While Michigan Supreme Court seats are nonpartisan, candidates are nominated at state party conventions. Democratic justices currently hold a 4-3 majority on the Court. Republicans can gain a 4-3 majority if both O'Grady and Fink win.
