India has announced its support in exploring legal options for Nimisha Priya, an Indian nurse from Kerala facing a death sentence in Yemen for allegedly murdering a Yemeni citizen. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the government is extending all possible assistance in the matter.

Nimisha Priya is a trained nurse and has worked in private hospitals in Yemen for a few years. Yemen’s Supreme Court had on November 13 last year dismissed the appeal of Nimisha Priya against her death sentence.

The MEA expressed its complete willingness towards extending all possible help to explore relevant options in Kerala nurse's case.

Nimisha Priya, hailing from Kerala, has been reportedly handed capital punishment for allegedly murdering a Yemeni citizen.

The official spokesperson of the external affairs ministry, in a statement, said that the Centre is extending all help necessary and looking at all options for Nimisha Priya. The Kerala nurse's death sentence was sanctioned by Yemen's President.
