Ford is one of America's oldest automakers and one of the oldest in the world, popularized for being the first to effectively mass produce the automobile under Henry Ford with the Ford Model T. In over 120 years, Ford has become a sales leader in a variety of segments, with popular nameplates like the Ford F-150, Transit, and Mustang.

Following on the heels of two SuperVans and a SuperTruck, Ford unveiled a Mustang Mach-E NASCAR prototype on Thursday. While NASCAR doesn’t currently organize a racing series for electric vehicles, you will be able to see this Mach-E stock car going flat-out this year.

The Mustang Mach-E racer is a follow up to the SuperVan 4.2 and the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck, which were also driven by Romain Dumas at the famous hill climb. The van completed the 12.4-mile course in 8 minutes and 47.682 seconds in 2023, while the pickup finished in 8 minutes and 53.553 seconds, taking the victory in 2024.

Ford yesterday unveiled a Mach-E prototype designed for the American NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) racing series.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E stock car has three motors and, like the unbranded NASCAR demonstrator revealed last year, uses the NASCAR Next Gen chassis.

While Ford has yet to release details of the Mach-E NASCAR, it will likely share similar characteristics of the NASCAR EV that was demonstrated in Chicago. The EV accelerated twice as fast as gas-powered NASCARs but suffered in corners due to its extra battery weight.

Ford on Thursday showed what its Mustang Mach-E electric SUV might look like as a NASCAR race car. The prototype is designed to look like a Mach-E, but is actually built around a carbon-fiber tub chassis with components from a current NASCAR Cup Series car, including the suspension, brakes, steering, and wheels, Ford said in a brief statement.

Ford likes to go racing. It announced yesterday that it will attempt to achieve an overall win at Le Mans in 2027, but it also hasn’t forgotten about America. The Blue Oval has just introduced a new Mustang Mach-E prototype for NASCAR.
