A Singapore passport has been ranked as the world’s most powerful in 2025, while the U.S. passport lost some of its travel power, according to data from migration advisory firm Henley & Partners.

The strength of a country’s passport is dependent on how many countries allow visa-free access to its holder. The Henley Passport Index includes 199 passports

Singapore has once again topped the Henley Passport Index for 2025. The coveted ranking gives Singaporean passport holders visa-free access to a staggering 195 destinations across the globe. Japan closely follows, with its passport providing visa-free entry to 193 countries.

Across Africa, many countries face the challenge of holding passports that rank low on global mobility indexes. Somalia has the least powerful passport in Africa, allowing access to only 35 countries and ranking 102nd globally.

The once-mighty US and UK passports have taken a notable hit in the 2025 Henley Passport Index rankings. The US, now placed at the 9th position with visa-free access to 186 destinations, marks its lowest ranking in decades.
