After falling in overtime to Dallas in their previous game, the Rangers came through with a much-needed 3-2 win in overtime over the Devils.

Both Blue Jackets goaltender Daniil Tarasov – who became the first ever NHL goaltender to record his first career shutout in a shootout loss – and Igor Shesterkin were outstanding at times on Saturday night, but it was the freshly-extended Original Six star who shined the brightest, stopping all three shots in the shootout en route to the win.

The New Jersey Devils lost 3-2 in overtime to the New York Rangers, ending a forgettable six-game road trip for New Jersey. While the Devils had flashes of strong play, they were incredibly sloppy and made self-inflicted mistakes in the form of giveaways that ultimately cost them an additional point in the standings.
