A driver killed in the dark along Interstate 40 was mistakenly targeted by a man who believed he was being followed, according to investigators in Middle Tennessee. Turns out 43-year-old Randy Brooks II shot an innocent driver, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said in a Jan. 30 news release.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A multi-vehicle crash blocked some eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near downtown Knoxville Thursday afternoon. It also blocked a ramp leading to Interstate 275, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The eastbound lanes washed away during flooding from Helen in late September. Crews are working to put anchors into the westbound lanes to hold them in place.
