“With the cold air in place, any accumulating snow may cause significant impacts on roadways. Temperatures, meanwhile, continue to be well-below normal thru the period, barely getting above 32 degrees over much of the (forecast) area today,” the forecast said.

A passing weather system brought some snow to the Charlotte region Tuesday night, leaving behind a white blanket across several parts of the Carolinas that often don’t get much snow. Most of the snow in the Carolinas went fell across the heart of South Carolina,

The top weather story remains the extreme cold dominating Charlotte. Meanwhile, significant snow and ice are moving up the Carolina coast, and several inches are expected to fall. While we may see some flurries in the Charlotte Metro, it will not add up too much.

The Charlotte area woke up Saturday to less than a half-inch of snow and ice from the region's first winter storm in three years. Forecasters warn that black ice could be a danger on some roads and sidewalks.

As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, Charlotte Douglas International Airport had 186 flights canceled and 102 that were delayed, according to FlightAware, an online website providing real-time information. FlightAware also reported that flights scheduled to come to CLT are being delayed at other airports by about an hour and 30 minutes.

In what might be considered a blizzard by recent Charlotte standards, roughly a half-inch of powdery snow fell over the city and surrounding region Tuesday night.
