'Devastated:' Gray seal 'Chappy' found in downtown New Haven dies at Mystic Aquarium
The gray seal, named “Chappy,” was admitted to the Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Clinic on Feb. 16 after being discovered near the downtown of New Haven, Connecticut. While he was initially recovering from dehydration, malnutrition, and mild pneumonia, he eventually succumbed to gastrointestinal issues.
Chappy, the seal pup found stranded on a street, has died
In a news release, Mystic Aquarium said the gray seal appeared to have wandered from a beach and onto Chapel Street in New Haven on Feb. 16. The male gray seal, affectionately named Chappy and estimated to be only a few weeks old, was rescued by the New Haven Police Department and taken to the Mystic Aquarium for treatment.
