The bishop of Liverpool, John Perumbalath, has denied a set of sexual assault allegations by two different women including a fellow church leader, according to multiple reports.

John Perumbalath, bishop of the English city of Liverpool, has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman and harassing another, Channel 4 reported on Tuesday, in the latest scandal to hit the Church of England in recent months.

Rt Rev Dr John Perumbalath has "consistently denied" the allegations and has complied with all investigations conducted by the National Safeguarding Team (NST).
