A sewage spill closed a portion of La Jolla Shores on Wednesday, the San Diego County Department of Environmental and Quality said.
The fire started just after 2 p.m. near Gilman Drive and Via Alicante. Several homes in the area were threatened by the flames.
Evacuation orders have been issued for the area bordered by La Jolla Village Drive to the north, La Jolla Parkway to the south, Gilman Drive to the east and Torrey Pines Road to the west. This comes as much of the county is under a Red Flag Warning due to another bout of strong Santa Ana winds.
