The arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2 heralds some much-needed improvements over its predecessor, especially its Joy-Con controllers. Here’s a quick breakdown of what the announcement trailer showed us about the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons.

Nintendo revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 overnight and whilst details were fairly light, it does look to have confirmed one rumour to be true. It looks as though the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers can magnetically snap into a little holder (similar to the first Switch) and then be used like a mouse.

Going against what we saw from some leakers, the Switch 2's Joy-Cons don't seem to feature curved backs like a lot of today's handheld PCs. At least their longer build will make it easier for folks with larger hands to grip them.

Now that one rumored Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con feature seems to be confirmed, the console just needs a specific companion peripheral to go with it.

Perhaps more importantly, the video shows the Joy-Con clicking onto a separate piece before going into mouse mode. This other piece looks like it has some small pads on the bottom, like a computer mouse would, to make it a little easier to slide around.
