San Antonio Police Chief William McManus held an impromptu press conference near the incident around 10:30 p.m. and explained to local media about what transpired. It was initially reported that only four police officers were shot during the incident.

The unidentified suspect shot an officer who first arrived at the scene then proceeded to shoot six more officers more, the San Antonio Police Department said.

The four officers were hospitalized with what where believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, the San Antonio police chief said.
