Astro Bot was an immense success for PlayStation, but will its influence inspire a new wave of platformer games?

Nicholas Doucet said that “Astro Bot” is an action game for the PlayStation 5 in which you go on an adventure with a little robot called Astro. Across the journey you take, you have to rescue Astro’s crew of little robots.

Before Astro Bot stole all of our hearts, Sony had a different console mascot: LittleBigPlanet’s Sackboy. This lovable little lump of burlap was one of the most family-friendly characters PlayStation had to offer, and he finally got his own game in 2020.

Just a few days later, the release of Astro Bot was a huge success. As the game was met with resounding praise, this was a reminder to leaders in the industry that players and critics alike have made it clear what they want to see more of and what needs to go away as the future of gaming takes shape.
