The state is grappling with a projected budget shortfall of $10 billion to $12 billion over the next four years.

Governor-elect Bob Ferguson unveiled a plan Thursday he says could save Washington $4.4 billion over the next four years, as lawmakers prepare to address an estimated budget shortfall of about $12 billion over the same period.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has warned that massive budget cuts are on the way as state lawmakers try to solve a $3 billion budget gap. Moore told Maryland residents Wednesday to brace themselves for $2 billion worth of cuts in his soon-to-be-released budget.
