Dive into the latest Henley Index ranking the world’s most powerful passports. While it’s good news for many Asian countries, the U.S. continues its slide downwards.

Henley Global has released its 2025 Henley Passport Index, the United States ranked 9th on the list, down from 7th last year.

Singapore has once again topped the Henley Passport Index for 2025. The coveted ranking gives Singaporean passport holders visa-free access to a staggering 195 destinations across the globe. Japan closely follows, with its passport providing visa-free entry to 193 countries.

Singapore remained in the fifth position, which means visitors can travel to an impressive 195 of the 227 global destinations incorporated in the index. Japan ranked second this year.

Singapore has the most powerful passport, according to the 2025 Henley Passport Index. The nation-state was part of a six-way tie in the 2024 ranking.

The once-mighty US and UK passports have taken a notable hit in the 2025 Henley Passport Index rankings. The US, now placed at the 9th position with visa-free access to 186 destinations, marks its lowest ranking in decades.

Israeli passport holders are able to travel to 170 countries without a visa, with some destinations requiring a visa on arrival or an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA).
