The winter storm could impact up to 170 million people across more than 20 states from the southern Plains to the Midwest and East, AccuWeather said.

In Irving, a tornado with winds up to 110 mph struck, while another touched down in the 16,000-resident city of Ada, Oklahoma, according to preliminary information from the National Weather Service. There were also two tornadoes in Louisiana’s northern Caddo Parish and at least five in eastern Oklahoma.

Crews are working to repair damages from an EF-1 tornado in Irving. The damages have caused several Irving ISD schools to remain closed Wednesday.

A preliminary investigation by the National Weather Service indicates an EF-1 tornado with 90 mph winds touched down in Union County Wednesday morning.
