Aug 10, 2009 — A medium gray is, IMHO, the most versatile color. It can be worn with grays, blues, and blacks. Silver Belly is a bit to light a color for me as a one and only hat. I would like something a bit darker. I am also not as partial to Silver Belly with tans and browns as others.
Considering a Stetson Open Road, what pairs well with it?

It’s the same as the Stetson Open Road but comes open crown and at a cheaper price point (even with shipping and currency conversion) the advantage is you can shape it more fedora or more western. You are not stuck with the factory pre set shape.

Mar 19, 2009 — The liner and sweatband seem thicker and of better quality on the Stetson. I also prefer it's slight crown taper and smaller brim to the Akubra's straight sides and wide brim, but that is subjective. ETA: I just realized you never asked about all that stuff above! Durability wise the Akubra wins, no contest.

Aug 2, 2017 — As a result there are a lot of them and the value is around the $125 range when I've seen them sell. The price may go higher as weather cools. I agree it i mid 80's to early 90's. Dec 8, 2010 — Even though they were thinner and lighter than some of the other higher grade Stetsons, both the Royal and Royal Deluxe were still good quality felts.
