A Chicago church has paused its in-person Spanish services over growing fears within the immigrant community of mass deportations.

In an interview with CNN’s Victor Blackwell, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson vowed to protect the people in his city, when asked whether he would inform US Immigration and Customs Enforcement if there is someone in local police custody who is accused of a serious crime.

The people attending the protest said they were sending the message not just to Mr. Trump, but to local leaders as well.
