Aug 9, 2018 · No cumbersome heart rate strap. Just a heart rate monitor watch to wear on my wrist. The only con I can think of is that the watch BARELY fits my wrist. It is a bit uncomfortable, but not so much that I can't do whatever exercise I am using it to track. I gave away my Polar heart rate monitor watch and the strap after getting the Mio.

What happened: I ran for perhaps 2 or 3 minutes, and felt like my heart rate was in the low 140's so I started walking, and picked up my arm to look at my watch.

Feb 7, 2024 · Not exactly an arm band, but I’ve had decent luck with my Apple Watch paired to my h10 chest strap. I used the zones app before they rolled zone alarms into the default fitness app.

I am not super familiar with iOS, but I will tell you that most bluetooth straps should be compatible with an iPhone. A fitbit or garmin with a wrist based monitor might work but it might be slightly more inaccurate.

And I must be monitoring my heart rate in real time to make sure I catch it if I exceed 88% MHR. Switching between apps on my phone isn’t efficient.
