Sep 3, 2022 · In some cases, the the R655 performs better than Samsungs top-tier QLED displays that cost twice the price. In some dark scenes the R655 has significantly better blooming control than Samsungs more expensive sets. While the R635 is a cheap alternative to Samsungs flagship TV’s, the r655 is better in many respects for half the money.

TV in the front room is a couple year old Vizio M-series (I picked out) and comparatively watching my TCL R635 55" last night after watching some at the house on the Vizio was crazy different. Colors pop more, things seem more fluid and clear, blacks are more inky black.

Nov 1, 2020 · The TCL uses a BGR subpixel arrangement which can render text blurry to unreadable if used as a monitor. Handling motion is also very important and can't be summed up on a stat sheet. 4K120 isn't the only consideration, TVs actually have software that handles motion and the effectiveness can vary widely between different makers.

It has HDMI 2.1 but isn't as expensive as the LG CX and it doesn't have the risk of burn in. Also it's a better TV than the R635. In terms of picture quality and the fact that it can do 4K@120. It's the perfect TV for any next (or I guess now it would be current gen) gen console.

For example, the TV got dimmer and got worse in motion display in 2019. This year they are going to microLEDs and TCL proved they didn't know how to light dim areas with the 8-series microLEDs in 2019.
