What the heck is going on with I-130 processing times?
Jul 4, 2023 · Meanwhile, I've seen the overall estimated turnaround time increase from the 7-10 months the USCIS quoted in the beginning to now over three years! And the USCIS is now saying that the earliest date I can submit questions about my petition is January 10, 2026! That's compared to my original quote of June 2023 to be able to ask questions.

Dec 10, 2024 · With the case status on the USCIS website says "Step 3 of 4 (completed): Attend interview (if necessary): and the petitioner and beneficiary is currently on Step 4 of 4: Case decision. That could mean they don't have to go through the interview process. Unless Step4 is after the change in administration.

It's been pretty good so far, as you have the option to view USCIS notices faster, see that a potion of your application has been uploaded, and upload additional documentation in an 'unsolicited evidence' section.

Jan 2, 2024 · USCIS actively reviewing case: 11/12/2023 (no biometrics, I got a "reuse biometrics" notification, probably from my ROC in 2022) Currently it says about 5 months wait time until a decision will be made (that's for people applying under 5-year rule in my area; I applied under the 3-year rule so that estimate can be totally irrelevant).

My thinking is that AOS take 18 months precisely because there is a long wait/piles of docs, etc so it will take months for them to even open my envelope, let alone read the application and find the line where I ask for SSN.
